To say that Adele had a rather successful night at the Grammys, would be an understatement. The “Hello” singer took home five Grammys last night (Feb. 12) and nailed two performances.

The 25 singer opened the 59th Annual Grammys with her record-breaking hit, Hello. It came as no surprise that Adele won three Grammy’s for that record as well: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance. Adele, is the first artist to win Record and Song of the Year twice. Each time that Adele went on stage to accept her various awards, she had confused facial expressions, which was in response to who she was up against.

Adele was battling against Queen Bey for Album of the Year and Record of the Year. Beyoncé, became teary eyed when Adele confessed her love for her during her acceptance speech for Record of the Year. The “6 Inch Heels” singer completely lost it when Adele accepted Album of the Year, and thanked Beyoncé once again.

“I can’t possibly accept this award and I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful, but the artist of my life is Beyoncé. This album to me, the Lemonade album was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul baring. The way you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is so empowering. I love you. I always have and I always will — Adele

The British singer made sure to also thank her friends, family, and management team for the award. However, she got choked up when she humbly stated she doesn’t deserve the award based on how Lemonade was able to change and inspire the world. As Adele admitted her love for the “Formation” singer, Beyoncé mouthed with tears rolling down her cheek, “No, I love you.”

Now that’s the perfect way to wrap up such an eventful night. Fingers crossed, these two will one day collaborate for a beautiful record. Let’s just say, Adele defended Beyoncé like Kanye would, and it was admiring. Excellent job to both of these ladies who continue to leave their impact in the music industry.
