Yesterday (May 15), Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, which makes abortion illegal. Needless to say, when the news hit social media, many spoke out against the law including Rihanna, Diddy and Janelle Monae.

In a post uploaded to Instagram, the Fenty Beauty creator shared a photo collage of Alabama’s senators, 25 white men, who helped make the law a reality. “Take a look,” she wrote. “These are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America. Governor Kay Ivey ….. SHAME ON YOU!!!”

Earlier today (May 16), Diddy expressed the same emotion. He uploaded a picture to his Instagram that states “men shouldn’t be making laws about women’s bodies.” As for his caption, Diddy simply wrote “Shit crazy.”

Taking her thoughts to Twitter, songstress Janelle Monae retweeted a tweet that stated the ban is aimed to control women’s sexuality. Keeping her opinion very straight forward, she replied to the tweet at hand stating “facts.”

Despite the opinion of others, Governor Kay Ivey seems content with her decision. Yesterday (May 15), she shared on Twitter her excitement over the new law, which has no exemptions even in the instances of rape and incest.

“Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act,” Governor Kay Ivey wrote. “To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious & that every life is a sacred gift from God.”
