“What’s that? Facts.”
Drake added some MORE wins to his name at the Billboard Music Awards tonight (May. 21). In addition to racking up 13 wins and destroying Adele’s record of 12, he delivered a memorable performance.
The More Life artist was nominated for a total of twenty-one awards. He obtained ten wins before the show officially aired. His wins included: Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Album, Top Rap Tour, Top R&B Song, Top R&B Collaboration, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Streaming Song, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Streaming Songs Artist.
The BBMA’s aired Drizzy receiving Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Artist. Toronto’s Finest had stiff competition in these categories including Beyoncé, Rihanna, The Weeknd, The Chainsmokers and many more superstars. While accepting these various awards, Drake decided to drop three different life lessons. While accepting Top Male Artist, he uttered the importance that an artist is nothing without the hard work of their team. While accepting Billboard 200 Album, he announced that it’s important to show love while we still have the chance. Lastly, when accepting the greatest award for Top Artist, he gave a funny yet inspiring quote. Drizzy said, “Life is like toilet paper. Either you’re on a roll, or taking shit from assholes.”
However, it was Drake’s decision to perform one of his more arrogant tracks, “Gyalchester,” off of his More Life LP, that showcased why he deserved all his accomplishments. His performance took place at Las Vegas’ Bellagio Fountains which contained fireworks and the perfect oceanic view. Drake, dressed in all-white as the song states, was feeling the vibes as he rapped each word effortlessly.
Congrats and keep up the good work Drizzy.
