How to Get the Ultimate Skincare Glow This Summer

2017-10-02---Zendaya

Summer is two months away. With everyone’s favorite season approaching, are you prepared? Now, I’m not just talking about your luggage for that dream getaway you’ve been planning all year. One essential thing to have down packed this upcoming season is your skincare routine. There’s a myth that achieving the perfect skincare glow can be quite difficult but it doesn’t have to be. Below are six simple steps that will have your skin glowing from within.

  1. Removing Your Makeup the Right Way

If you’re still using makeup wipes to remove your makeup, then consider this your revelation. It is more effective and beneficial to your skin to remove your foundation, mascara, and all that jazz, with a cleansing oil of your choice. Makeup wipes tend to pull and tug on your skin and does not remove all of your makeup. The cleansing oil is designed to softly break down all of the dirt, oil, and impurities throughout the day. Although this is a cleansing oil, it’s recommended to go back in with a cleanser, once all of your makeup is removed.

2. The 60 Second Rule

60seconds

Now that we’re on the topic of cleansing, it’s time to dive deeper. Most people do not cleanse their face long enough. Cleansers are the one part of our skincare routine that we don’t allow to sit on our face like a moisturizer. With that being said, it’s important to give the cleanser of your choice enough time to work. Cleansing your skin for 60 seconds or more, allows the cleanser to deeply penetrate your skin, which leaves you feeling baby smooth. As someone who has tried this trick within the last month, I have seen significant improvement and you will as well.

3. Vitamin C

Adding Vitamin C to your routine allows your skin to glow from within. Vitamin C helps to brighten and even skin tone, reduce the appearance of dark spots and adds a good source of hydration. There are a ton of different serums on the market, so the choice is ultimately yours.

4. Moisturizer

For those with oily skin, the thought of using moisturizer in the summer might be a nightmare. However, not moisturizing causes your skin to produce more oil. The key is finding the balance that works best for your skin type. As someone who is oily, I love a moisturizer that either says gel or lightweight. This is a step that should never be skipped, whether it be morning or night.

5. Sunscreen

Quite frankly, this step should be used in your morning routine every day regardless of the season. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. There are some sunscreens that are thicker in texture for those with dry skin. For oily girls, there are sunscreens with a lightweight texture. No matter what you decide on, be sure that sunscreen is the last step in your routine before you put on a full face of makeup or go all natural.

6. Take Note of What You Digest

Cleansing your body from the inside out starts with what you digest. It’s important to cut down on unnecessary sugars and drinking at least 64 ounces of water daily. It can be difficult at first, but it’s important to find the balance. For instance, for every cup of juice you intake, try drinking two cups of water. Instead of digesting carbs twice a day, aim for once a day. Your skin will thank you.
